Matthew Potts of Durham and Dan Lawrence of Essex are also returning, but there is no room for Jonny Bairstow of Yorkshire as he continues his recovery after a broken leg.

Potts made his Test debut against New Zealand in June and won 20 wickets in five appearances at an average of 28.00, but was not counted for the tou rned in Pakistan.

The series moves to Wellington for the second test on February 23.
