NGO organizes crime prevention workshop in Zamfara

A non-governmental organization "Cleen Foundation" conducted a training workshop on the prevention of serious organized crime (SOC) in communities in two local government areas of Zamfara State.

The two-day training was reported Monday in Gusau, capital of Zamfara State, by Cleen Foundation Program Manager (Monitoring and Evaluation), Mr. Nnamdi Odo with Partnership for Crime Prevention (PPC) on Prevention in the State.

According to him, the idea of ​​training communities in crime prevention was presented after serious independent research was carried out and resulted in more security-prone states.

"During the research, four states, including Zamfara, Bayelsa, Edo and Lagos, were found to be the most affected, and two local government areas were selected in each state for the Crime Prevention Partnership (CPP) program."

Earlier, Abubakar Magaji Yabo, who works on prevention of Serious Organized Crime (SOC) and Organized Criminal Groups (OCG) among communities in Zamfara State, said the participants were from communities in Bungudu and Maru local government areas of the state.

Abubakar Yabo explained that based on the crime of banditry and cattle rustling, the two local governments were selected in the state (Maru and Bungudu).

He called on the state government to intervene in the Partnership for Crime Prevention (PPC) program so that other local government areas would participate and benefit from the program in the state.

He advised young people in the state to avoid crime and other criminal activity so that they can organize and become the leaders of tomorrow.

During the training, security personnel consisting of senior police officers gave lectures on crime prevention and how to report any suspicious figures to the nearest security officer.

Highlights of the lectures were the roles of the Partnership for Crime Prevention (PPC) and Organized Crime Groups (OCG) within the state community.
