Niger Delta oil and gas professionals delighted with Keyamo's ministerial appointment

A group of seasoned technocrats, Niger Delta Oil & Gas Professionals, has applauded the ministerial appointment of Festus Keyamo, SAN by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The leader of the group, Engr (Dr) Soki Etebu expressed this in a statement in Abuja, where he noted that President Tinubu has proven to be a man of honour.

He was particularly pleased that Keyamo, who he said represents progressivism and determination, was part of an administration that aims to massively improve the lot of Nigerians.

The veteran oil industry expert noted that with the likelihood of appointing Keyamo as oil minister, it would come down to putting the best person in the job.

According to him, the president had promised former agitators in the Niger Delta to appoint someone from the region as Minister of Petroleum Resources.

Engr Etebo pointed out that with Keyamo's legal background, experience in oil and gas cases, in addition to his contributions to petroleum industry law, he was in the best position to see the sector through a glorious era.

He said: Festus Keyamo is best suited for this job; he has a solid background in law, he is from the Niger Delta, he fought for the people of the region and has the composure to bring growth and progress to the sector.

“He is knowledgeable and deep enough to carry out sector reforms and unbundling, and ensure the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act, among others.”

The former instrumentation engineer noted that with his knowledge of the industry and President Tinubu's desire to bring prosperity to Nigeria, he was sure the legal luminary would perform beyond expectations.

Etebu urged the National Assembly, especially the Senate, to grant all necessary cooperation to the president to filter Festus Keyamo.

*We have full confidence in Keyamo; he is industrious, determined, knowledgeable and ready to work in the ministry. We urge the Senate to cooperate with President Tinubu to filter it as soon as possible,” he summed up.
