Sabo said the terrorists attacked the military camp by the hundreds in the early hours of Monday morning, but were repelled by the military.

"In the early morning of today at 2:15 a.m. sharp, terrorists attempting to ambush our security men invaded the military camp, but unfortunately for the terrorists, the valiant soldiers were on alert even at hours late at night.

The spokesperson also said that the shootout between the terrorists and the military at the military camp lasted about two hours, adding that the terrorists recorded a high number of casualties.

“The terrorists came by the hundreds to try to dislodge the military base. The army engaged them in a gunfight that lasted about two hours until the army called in reinforcements and succeeded in neutralize.

"It took less than 30 minutes for the military to reach Sarkin Pawa from Minna in response to the distress call for reinforcements. The statement added.

Sabo also said there were no casualties on the military side.

"According to the report we have, no casualties were recorded on the side of the army, but there are strong indications that some terrorists were killed, although the number remains to be determined.
