National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS) group chief executive Bala Wunti said this on Sunday.

The Trans-Niger Pipeline, a major oil pipeline capable of transporting approximately 180,000 barrels of crude per day to the Bonny export terminal, has stopped transporting product since mid-June due to a theft, said its operator, Shell.

The pipeline, according to Shell, is part of the gaseous liquids evacuation infrastructure, essential for continued national electricity production and liquefied gas exports.

Wunti said that as part of efforts to reopen the pipeline, NAPIMS management under the joint venture's chief operating officer, Zakariya Budawara, had spent the past week with the Bodo community in Gokana Local Government Area in Rivers State, where the pipeline is located. .

He said the visit was of monumental significance as it gave them the opportunity to reconnect with the people of the Bodo community.

"Our presence today is part of NAPIMS' efforts to reopen the country's main liquid hydrocarbon delivery atrium, the Trans Niger Pipeline, critical infrastructure for the export of crude oil, which is under the blow of a case of force majeure for more than six months,” Mr. Wunti said. .

He said the visit was part of the company's ongoing journey to build trust with one of the communities where NAPIMS and its partners operate.

"It is also a demonstration of NNPC's strong commitments to its core values, integrity, excellence and sustainability," he said.
