NPFL: IMC and club owners meet next week to ratify start of 2022/23 season

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) and the 20 club owners will meet next week in Abuja to ratify the start date for the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

December 28 has been set as the tentative launch date for the new season.

Club owners have agreed on an abbreviated format, with the campaign due to end in May 2023.

The 20 teams will be split into two groups, with the top two teams from each group meeting in a league format to decide the overall winner.

Meanwhile, some clubs will have to play their home matches at neutral venues after their stadium fails to meet the required standards.

Sunshine Stars, Nasarawa United and Lobi Stars are among the clubs affected.
