Obi man who can deliver Nigeria – Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has said Obi is the best person who can help pull Nigeria out of its challenges.

He spoke while congratulating Obi for visiting IDP camps in the state on Christmas Day.

Speaking in Makurdi, the governor prayed that God would bless Obi's presidential ambition.

"Several presidential candidates have been here, and none of them have chosen to visit these IDP camps and examine their plight to see how they are doing and give them hope that when they will win, they will bring them succor, help, and hope.

"For you have chosen to visit the IDPs on a Christmas day that you should celebrate with your family, for me as a Christian I say God will bless you and your aspirations. My prayer is that God bless your aspiration to be the president of this country.

"Because I've seen ability, faith, and hope, and I've seen someone who can bring the required fairness, justice, and fairness that I've been looking for since I became governor in 2015. If I wasn't in the PDP, I would have followed you around to solicit and vote for you.

"But, because I am in the PDP, I say to Nigerians that this man can help lift this country out of its challenges."

Ortom said that if he was not in the Peoples Democratic Party, he would have followed Obi to solicit and vote for him.

Obi had visited the Abagana IDP camp located along the Makurdi/Laafia road, and regretted the continued stay of Nigerians in IDP camps across the country.

The former Governor of Anambra State also donated 3 million naira to the displaced people saying, "I have decided that today I will be in Kogi and Benue to celebrate with Residents of Displaced Persons Camps Nigerians should not live in camps in their country.

“I therefore appeal to the Federal Government, whatever it takes to ensure that Nigerians do not live as refugees in their country must be done.

“I assure you that the next government, as we move forward, will ensure that this does not continue. Today we are here simply to tell you to remain faithful, to pray and to keep all your hope in God.

“What you are going through is what Nigeria is going through. What affects you affects everyone in Nigeria. We cannot say that we are well when you are here.

“As long as you stay here, Nigeria is not well. It is when you leave and you are at home, cultivating and doing what you are supposed to do to help Nigeria become productive that we will be proud to say that we are Nigerians.

"As long as you stay in an IDP camp, Nigeria is in an IDP camp.

“So I came here to celebrate with you. I am saddened that Nigerians are in the camp.

"You are at camp and we are also at camp because if you were at your house today I would have been at my house but since you are here we cannot continue to party and that is why I said Nigeria is in camp. That's what we describe as a country."
