Obi: MASSOB castigates Gumi for comments on pro-Biafra agitation

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra criticized the controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for what he described as a hypocritical claim of pro-Biafra agitation.

Gumi claimed via his Facebook page on Monday that pro-Biafra unrest had slowed in the South East due to the emergence of Peter Obi as the Labor Party's presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.< /p>

But MASSOB, in a statement on Tuesday, called Gumi's claims deceptions and lies.

In the statement signed by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, MASSOB said that so many pro-Biafra agitators have participated in the self-determination struggle for the actualization and restoration of Biafra.

He said the Biafra agitators were not calling for the occupation of an Igbo man to be president of Nigeria.

The statement read in part: "Our program is known, our mission is stated, our position is unwavering and uncompromising and our goal is to actualize an independent state of Biafra through the principles of non-violence.

"We can never be intimidated or intimidated by the chief patron and negotiator of the terrorist movement that is ravaging the entire northern region and the rest of Nigeria.

“MASSOB and other pro-Biafra organizations have nothing against Mr. Peter Obi and his intentions to save Nigeria from further collapse. He believes in Nigeria, we believe in Biafra. elect based on his skills and pedigree as the new president, does that concern MASSOB? That's none of our business.

“Mr. Peter Obi is not the first person to run for President since September 1999, [when] we launched MASSOB’s non-violent struggle for self-determination. now?

“MASSOB has advised Shiekh Gumi to explain his role and other Fulani cabals in the terrorist attack and break-in at Kuje prisons in Abuja. Don't use Mr. Peter Obi and the pro-Biafra agitation to distract."
