Ogun PDP candidate wants INEC chairman Ayu jailed

A Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Ogun State, Solomon Enilolobo, has filed imprisonment proceedings against the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakub, for his alleged disobedience of a court order.< /p>

Enilolobo also urged the Federal High Court in Abeokuta to jail the party's national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu and four others for contempt of judge J.O Abdulmalik's judgment.

The candidate said he decided to take Yakub to court for allegedly disobeying the judgment rendered by Judge J.O Abdulmalik of the Abeokuta Federal High Court on September 26, 2022.

He said other people, including Ayu, have been charged along with the INEC boss because of the roles they deal with, which he called a contempt of court

Before the judgment, Enilolobo had participated in the PDP primary in Constituency 1 of Abeokuta South State and won among other candidates. Police and other security agents.

The court had ruled that Enilolobo was the duly elected candidate for the DPP House of Assembly for Abeokuta South Constituency 1 when his name was changed to another person.

Almost a month after the judgment, the candidate said his name was still missing from the INEC list.

"With the judgment, which remains unappealed at the time of writing, and with the three-month appeal window closed, I have approached the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta to commit INEC President, Pr Mahmoud Yakubu; PDP President, Dr Iyorchia Ayu; Sunday Sodipe and others to prison for their non-compliance with the judgment of September 26, 2022.

"Subject to any last minute changes, the respondents could spend their days in jail if the committal orders are granted by the court."
