Oil will become a curse for communities if… – Gombe gov

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya has warned residents to maintain peace to allow unhindered exploration in the Kolmani fields.

Already there have been verbal disagreements in the media about the real owners of Kolmani one, two, three, four and five.

However, based on the President's remarks, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retired), at the inauguration, the discovery would bring the country more than $3 billion in investment .

According to Yahaya, not only would exploration be disrupted but investors in other sectors of the state's economy could leave the state if the relative peace became threatened.

Yahaya made the revelation on Wednesday, at Mai Kaltungo Palace, Engr. Saleh Mohammed, when his campaign train arrived in Kaltungo after completing neighborhood to neighborhood campaigns in Balanga.

The governor expressed concern and therefore warned that disputes between communities in the state could also arise if steps are not taken to maintain the peace of the communities.

Yahaya emphatically underlined the essential role of traditional institutions, emphasizing that they are stakeholders in ensuring peaceful coexistence between peoples.

He said, "The desired economic benefit from oil will only be a curse to communities and the state at large if people continue to fight because of the location of oil activities or of exploring." < /p>

Our correspondent reports that the Governor visited the neighborhoods of Kaltungo East, Kaltungo West, Ture, Awak, Kamo and Tungo for his campaign.
