Okada pilot trapped in Lagos tanker crash

An as yet unidentified biker, commonly referred to as the Okada biker, was trapped after a tanker truck crashed and spilled its contents on Tuesday evening.

The incident happened at the Alaba express bus stop. Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Director Margaret Adeseye said in a brief statement.

“An adult motorcyclist, however, is trapped under the tanker as efforts are underway to recover him,” the statement read.

Ms Adeseye said the 33,000 liter tanker truck "lost control while in motion and fell on its side, spilling its contents at the Alaba Express bus stop, Apapa Oshodi Expressway, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.

"The incident is being mitigated by the Agency's Ajegunle Fire Team and has it under control with no palpable cause for alarm."
