UNILAG alumni honor PUNCH Metro editor Momoh and others

The University of Lagos Mass Communication Graduate Association has honored some members who have distinguished themselves in 2022.

Alumni group pays tribute to PUNCH Metro Desk Editor Samson Folarin; President of Channels Television, John Momoh, and a few other members of the association.

Folarin was honored as Print Journalist of the Year, while Momoh received the UMCAA's first Statue of Greatness.

Members honored at the Alumni Dinner and Awards have recently been described as worthy ambassadors of UMCAA.

The event brought together former students and teachers of the department, a platform for reunions, connections and networking.

Some alumni who had served the association were also honored for their exemplary service.

Emmanuel Kayode became Advertising Professional of the Year, while Olubukola Munonye was named Public Relations Professional of the Year.

Others honored were Regina Chris-Ogbodo as Broadcast Journalist of the Year; Dr. Olabisi Deji-Folutile as Online Media Professional of the Year; Dr. Kehinde Oyesomi as Academic of the Year; Adeyinka Adeosun as UMCAAite of the year, and ranks 1984 as the most participatory ensemble of the year.

Some veterans who have contributed to the development of the department have also been recognized and honored with awards presented to them. They were: Bukky Bandele, Mallam Abdul Okwechime, Fred Ohwahwa, Ayotunde Awobiyi and Oyeboade Akinola.

Meanwhile, a new group of cadres took the oath by taking the oath.

In his acceptance speech, new UMCAA President Adewale Williams said his team was poised to build on the achievements of the outgoing executive and lead an “inclusive” administration.

Williams assured that the new executive will move the association and its alma mater forward by creating platforms that will make it the center of attention.
