Olivia Wilde says being handed custody papers on stage was 'vicious', her kids 'suffered'

Olivia Wilde speaks on stage during CinemaCon 2022

Olivia Wilde is opening up about the high-profile hiatus of her CinemaCon presentation earlier this year. While talking about her upcoming film "Don't Worry Darling" onstage at the convention in April, the director reportedly received papers from her ex Jason Sudeikis, involving custody of their joint children. In a cover interview for Variety published on August 24, Wilde opened up about the "truly upsetting" incident at what she described as her workplace and revealed more details about how it happened and the end of his relationship with Sudeikis, although he was not named.

“I hated that this meanness took away from the work of so many different people and the studio I represented up there,” she said. "Trying to sabotage this was really vicious. But I had a job to do; I'm not easily distracted... But, you know, unfortunately, it wasn't something that entirely surprised me. I want say, there's a reason I left that relationship."

"The only people who suffered are my children, because they will have to see this, and they should never have to know what happened."

She continued, sharing that it was "deeply painful" for her children with Sudeikis, Otis, 8, and Daisy, 5, to be dragged into their custody battle. "The only people who suffered were my children, because they will have to see this, and they should never have to know this happened," she said. "For me, it was appalling, but the victims were children aged 8 and 5, and it's really sad. I chose to become an actress, I voluntarily walked in the spotlight. But it's not not something my kids asked for.."

The 'Don't Worry Darling' director also claimed that the decision to serve her at the convention "required some thought beforehand," as there were many restrictions on attending the event. "In any other workplace, this would be considered an attack," she said, adding, "It shouldn't have happened. There was a huge breach in security, this who is really sc...
