Potential Ondo voters besiege neighborhoods for PVC collection

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began distributing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to registrants at the ward level on Friday, potential voters, especially young people, besieged the various neighborhoods of Akure, to recover their PVC.

A visit to neighborhoods in the state's South Akure Local Government Area by our correspondent witnessed good turnout from potential voters to collect their PVCs.

However, despite the high turnout, there were not enough commission officials on the ground to assist the crowd, leading some potential voters to leave the center unattended.

Some of the potential voters told our reporter that they spent about three to four hours waiting to get their cards back, while others said officials informed them that their PVCs hadn't arrived. at collection centers.

One of the potential voters at Methodist Primary School, Gbogi, Ward 3, Abayomi Babalola, explained that he spent about three hours before he could collect his PVC and said that "the process is not not too orderly as the officials failed to make adequate arrangements for the proper cashing of the cards.

"If you look around you will notice that we are not too many but we are not orderly and this makes the process cumbersome, while it takes more time. Officials should devise a way to facilitate the process and the crowd should be controlled”

Still in Ward 6, City Hall, Oda City of Akure South Local Government, Ms. Agnes Johnson, said she spent about two hours in the queue to get say that his card was not ready.

She said, "INEC should find a way to reach out to potential voters to let them know if their cards are ready, rather than coming here wasting time and energy to find out that the card isn't is not ready.

"Since they have our contact number, they have to text to let us know about the card. I've been here for two hours but found out my card wasn't ready"

She also called on the commission to put in place adequate security, noting that some thugs have tried to hijack the process.

Furthermore, Mr Adeleke Sikiru St Anthony Primary School, Araromi/Isolo Ward 10 described the process as very frustrating and said: "I have been here for hours to get the PVC but this place is very noisy .

“I have been registering for hours but still waiting for my turn.
