Osun 2022: Court sets date to hear claims in Oyetola's motion

The Osun State Election Petitions Court has set October 13 to hear all preliminary motions arising from a petition filed by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).< /p>

Mr. Oyetola filed the petition to challenge the declaration of Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as governor elected following the elections held in the state on July 16.

Mr. Oyetola joined INEC as a respondent in the petition.

Presiding Judge Tertsea Kume announced the adjournment date in Osogbo on Tuesday to allow the Claimant and Respondents to present their claims with responses to the questions posed.

Earlier, APC lawyer Lasun Sanusi (SAN) told the court that his pre-hearing answers have been filed and questions have also been put forward for him to determine.< /p>

Mr. Sanusi told the court that the plaintiff's lawyer and the defendants had agreed on the length of the examination, cross-examination and re-examination of witnesses, in order to ensure that the hearing did not become did not prolong.

He said all parties agreed that the examination of witnesses should take five minutes, while cross-examination would take 10 minutes and re-examination would take five minutes.

"In addition, examination of expert witnesses would take 15 minutes, while cross-examination would take 20 minutes and re-examination would take five minutes.

"Lawyers for both parties have agreed that the panel should sit on the case between Monday and Friday.

INEC lawyer Paul Ananaba (SAN) and PDP lawyers Alex Iziyon (SAN) and Adeleke Ogunwumiju (SAN) agreed to the hearing schedule as indicated by the lawyer of the applicant.

Mr. Ananaba told the court that six motions have been filed in court and will be taken on the next adjournment date for hearing.

Furthermore, PDP's lawyer, Mr. Iziyon, told the court that he had a pending claim regarding the judgment of the Federal High Court which quashed the candidacy of the petitioner, Mr. Oyetola.
