Osun police arrest INEC supervisor, two others for manipulation, recover 38 PVCs

The Osun State Police Command said on Saturday it apprehended a corps member, a supervisor working with the Independent National Election Commission and another for manipulating the ongoing distribution of permanent voter cards in Osu, Osun State.

Police also said 38 PVCs were recovered from the suspects.

A statement from the command's spokesman, Yemisi Opalola, obtained in Osogbo, noted that his officers also launched a manhunt against two People's Democratic Party members, Wale Ojo and Ijamakinwa Olaoluwa, for inciting the body member to donate a PVC belonging to a particular voter to another person.

The statement read in part: "On June 30, 2022 at approximately 10:40 a.m., the Complainant reported to Osu Division that on June 29, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., he went to the office of the Independent National Election Commission located at Atakumosa West Local Government Area, Osu, Osun State to retrieve his permanent voter card but did not find it.

“He therefore requested the register and discovered that a certain Orji Desmond Nkenna, a member of the corps attached to the INEC office as ad hoc staff in charge of distributing voter cards, had recovered his PVC on the order of a certain Wale Ojo and Ijamakinwa Olaoluwa, currently on the run, both members of the People's Democratic Party for financial transaction.

"Upon receipt of the complaint, police detectives immediately sprang into action and arrested the prime suspect and the alleged body member's INEC supervisor, Ms. Makanjuola Bilahu, 'f', 58-year-old, and a Mr. Oluwatobi Ogini, 'm', 32-year-old, to investigate the level of their involvement.”

But when contacted for comment, Osun's Acting PDP Chairman Dr. of a grand plan by the APC to indict our members.

"But I want to assure you that our party members abide by the law and are not capable of engaging in actions that could discredit the party."
