Osun Court: Tightened security as parties adopt written addresses

Journalists, officials and others who had one business or the other within the premises of the Osun State High Court had a turbulent time on Friday to access the area following the deployment of Heightened security as Tribunal hears motion against Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, concluded his session.

The All Progressives Congress candidate for the July 16 elections, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, contests Adeleke's victory.

Many visitors to the court were prevented from entering the premises with their vehicles by armed police officers posted at the entrance to the court.

In addition, many people who could not convince the security guards at the entrance were turned away.

Osun's APC and the People's Democratic Party on Thursday exchanged allegations regarding the plan to attack the venue of the sitting court by unnamed politicians.

The APC, in a statement by its acting chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, however called for increased security around the High Court premises where the court was sitting to stop the planned attack.

But the PDP, in a counter statement signed by its interim chairman, Dr Adekunle Akindele, said it was the APC that planned to attack the court session, adding that the party had no sounded the alarm only to divert attention.< /p>

As part of additional security measures put in place by the police, a limited number of members of the PDP and APC were allowed to enter the court premises.

At the time of filing this report, adoption of the final written addresses by the parties was in progress.
