Judicial staff in Oyo State on Tuesday complied with the Home Siege Directive issued by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) regarding the delay in payment of July salary.< /p>

Oyo JUSUN State Public Relations Officer Obafunso Okulaja told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the decision on the action was taken after the union congress on Friday.

Mr. Okulaja said the workers did not receive their July salaries while other state government agencies were paid on July 25.

"Our members don't have money to come to work, so we've asked them to stay home.

“JUSUN has not yet received July salary in the state and this delay in salary payment has been like this since December 2021.

“We call on the state government to put us on the priority list as the third arm of government.

"If the executive and legislative branches have precedence, the judiciary should also have the same.

“The sit-at-home will continue until we receive our July salary,” he said.

NAN reports that at the Iyaganku Magistrate Court and the State High Court, the entrance gates to the court premises and some offices were locked while people and vehicles were prevented to enter.

A worker, who spoke on condition of anonymity, denounced the delay in the payment of wages.

“We urge the government to do something urgently about this,” he said.

The doors to the Customary Court of Appeal were also locked.
