Perish thought to overturn Tinubu victory, NADECO tells opposition

The National Democratic Coalition Renewal Group (NADECO) has advised opposition parties campaigning against Bola Tinubu's declaration as president-elect to perish at the thought of reversing his victory.

In a statement to Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, the group described Mr. Tinubu's emergence as president-elect as the best that has happened to Nigeria in recent times.

Its national leader, Atilade Adeeyo, described the move by the Labor Party (LP) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to overturn Mr Tinubu's victory through the court as an exercise in futility.

He said that the efforts of the two finalists in the February 25 presidential election, Peter Obi of the LP and Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, contesting Tinubu's victory would yield no positive results.

He advised the duo to accept defeat honorably so that the country could move forward.

Mr. Adeeyo described Mr. Tinubu as a strategic and patriotic leader whose strong political structure spanned all six geopolitical zones of the country.

He said Mr Tinubu won the election in part because “she is a beautiful bride whom all Nigerians adore”.

“President-elect Senator Bola Tinubu has an impressive track record as a great patriotic leader.

"He displayed this uncommon trait of leadership when he was Governor of Lagos State.

“He has deployed the enduring skills and capabilities of a pan-Nigerian cabinet in his government to achieve leaps and bounds in Lagos State and we are all witness to the tremendous development that this state has seen ", he said.

Mr. Adeeyo also said that Mr. Tinubu is loved by most patriotic Nigerians because he is a builder of men and not a man who tears down others.

"This is one more reason why Nigerians will experience the best of governance under his leadership as President.

“We can also assure our many young people to be assured that Tinubu will ensure that their aspirations for a better future are taken into account when he rises to the saddle of power.

“We stand up for our nation and Nigeria will work again. The families of those who died after the cancellation of the 1993 presidential election will wish the cancellation never happened.

“I speak on behalf of thousands of members of the NADECO Renewal Group and urge Nigerians to allow peace to reign so that we can enjoy the renewed hope promised by the President-elect,” Mr. Adeeyo said.
