Police confirm five dead in Rivers cult clash
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of five people who were shot during a sectarian clash in the Ahoada East local government area of the state.
The incident happened in an area near the immigration training school in Umuigwe community in the Kingdom of Ehuda.
Command Public Relations Officer Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement on Sunday, identified two of those who died as Chukwujeku Kingsley and Chibuike Thankgod.
SP Iringe-Koko explained that the "bodies of 2 of the victims" had been removed by the family for burial before the police arrived at the scene of the clash.
The bodies of the others were "deposited in the morgue".
The statement says that the preliminary investigation revealed that the murder was the result of a clash that recently broke out among the cultists.
She however assured that the police commissioner, Okon Effiong-Okon, ordered the "deployment of a tactical team" in the community.
