IGP Praises SE Police, Warns Election Fraudsters

Inspector General of Police, IGP Muhammed Bala commended police across the South East for the peaceful election of the Presidential/National Assembly on February 25.

Represented by Deputy Inspector General, DIG John Ogbonnaya Amadi who represents the Southeast Zone on the Force Management Team, the Chief of Police noted “Throughout the Southeast , there were no offenses that led to the arrest of a police officer.

"The IGP is happy and wants this to happen again in the next election".

According to the IGP on Thursday afternoon, while addressing the officers and men of Abia State Command in Umuahia, “Anyone who wants to snatch the ballot box will be properly dealt with.

"In the next 24 hours, elections will be underway, hence the need to provide an enabling environment for voters to vote.

"All should not have fears. Anyone who wants to come as a rogue will have himself to blame".

He said it was the first duty of the police to protect lives and property, adding, "This time around our visitors and monitors will be provided with adequate security. The police will remain neutral.< /p>

"We did perfectly well in the last election and promise that we will do the same".

He assured that the election would be free, fair and credible and took the opportunity to warn those planning to disrupt the gubernatorial/state assembly elections in Abia and throughout the south- is that they would die if they tried

“The police will not tolerate the disruption of the election. Non-state actors are hereby warned.

“If you don't want to die, don't mess with the electoral system. Vote, go home and wait for the results,” he said.
