Police neutralize two suspected kidnappers in Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command on Friday neutralized two suspected kidnappers in Rafin Gora, Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State and rescued their victim .

Police spokesman SP Ahmed Wakil told Bauchi on Sunday that the armed assailants invaded the home of a Rafin Gora resident and attempted to abduct his 28-year-old son .

"The victim resisted the kidnapping attempt and was shot several times in the lower abdomen as he tried to escape.

"Police officers in conjunction with a local vigilante group mobilized to the scene to confront the kidnappers who greeted them with sporadic gunfire," he said.

He added that officers did return fire, causing the attackers to scurry off in disarray with possible gunshot wounds.

"Two of them encountered their waterloo, while an AK47 was recovered from them.

"The 28-year-old victim was rescued and immediately taken to Birnin Kudu Federal Medical Center for treatment," Wakil said.

He added that a manhunt had begun for the fugitive suspects so they could face the law.
