He said the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, near the Afo-Uzo junction in the community of Isuofia, when criminal elements opened fire on the Joint Police Team /soldier at a checkpoint.

He said the situation had been brought under control and security patrols had been intensified in the area.

“The situation is under control after five of the criminal elements have been neutralized and police/military patrols have intensified in the area,” he said.

The police spokesman said the operation followed a distress call around 10:30 a.m. from the Afor-Uzo Isuofia market area that thugs had attacked a security checkpoint in the area.
