Polling station ambassadors ask northerners to support Tinubu

The National Coalition of Polling Station Ambassadors (NACOPUAM) has urged northern elders to support the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the spirit of equity, fairness and justice.

The group described as heartbreaking a situation where another northerner is put forward to run for president given that the incumbent president is from the north.

The group's organizer and project manager, Ajayi Taiwo, who spoke yesterday, noted that such an act is capable of setting the country ablaze, while urging northern elders to change state of mind and to support Tinubu as a candidate for the 2023 Election in the spirit of fairness. The group, however, applauded progressive northern governors and traditional northern institutions, northern youth and academics for their support of Tinubu's ambition.

He said, "The recent adoption and endorsement of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar by some northern elders, recently Asiwaju's draft presidential agenda doomed the endorsement. Such endorsement can set the country on fire How can they support the idea of one Northerner handing over to another Northerner at a time when other regions are seriously complaining and demanding equal opportunity and balance in arrangements democratic governance of the country? We cannot imagine the moral justification behind endorsing a northerner again after eight years of incumbent northerner.

"We therefore want to advise the elders in question to stop what our group calls an act that can set our country on fire, so we would advise the elders in the north to please change their mindset and support Tinubu, as their preferred candidate, as his mission is to transform Nigeria for the good of the country, regardless of tribe and color.”

The group also congratulated the APC presidential candidates, who resigned for Tinubu in the primary and those who accepted defeat in a sporting spirit. He said Asiwaju's presidential agenda project decided to form NACOPUAM to get a better result in the polls.

"The need to change our strategy and introduce NACOPUAM arose from our genuine desire to make good use of so many Pro Asiwaju Shettima support groups who worked tirelessly without any serious recognition by dividing them into polling stations with a specific assignment to carry out, in their different voting units, our strategies are our strength.”

He added that NACOPUAM is a project of Asiwaju's presidential agenda, Asiwaju's first pro-independent political lobby group which was founded during President Muhammadu Buhari's first term in power, "we are a unrepentant political pressure group pro Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu."
