Portugal vs Nigeria: Thank goodness Super Eagles failed to qualify for World Cup – fans react to 4-0 loss

A cross section of Nigerians on social media reacted to the Super Eagles' 4-0 friendly loss to Portugal on Thursday night.

DAILY POST reports that a first-half brace from Bruno Fernandes and a second-half goal each from Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario handed Portugal victory over Jose Peseiro's side.

The match was played at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon.

Reacting to the development, some Nigerians on Twitter expressed their sadness over the outcome of the result, thanking God that the Super Eagles did not qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, while others criticized Emmanuel Dennis for his display against Portugal.

In addition, another section called for the dismissal of Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro, while others named Bright Osayi-Samuel and Samuel Chukwueze as the only players to have played brilliantly against Portugal.
