Princess Diana's Murray Arbeid velvet dress from 1985 goes up for auction

Sotheby's has revealed the full content of its first Fashion Icons sale. The sale, which opens at auction on August 31 and closes on September 14, looks like a royal affair.

The auction house has revealed it is offering one of the most famous pieces of Diana: her 1985 Murray Arbeid dress which she presented at Prince Edward's 21st birthday party, a themed event titled 'A Midsummer Night's Ball', held at the Royal Residence Windsor Castle in June 1985.

Like many of Diana's most famous looks, the dress grabbed headlines for days , especially because another guest attendees wore the same attire. The guest in question was Natasha Fairweather.
