Ralph Lauren Brings an American Flair to Milan for Design Week

MILAN — When Ralph Lauren opened its new store on Milan's pedestrianized, cobbled Via della Spiga in 2021, with The Bar at Ralph Lauren for casual and refined dining experiences that quickly became a staple in town, it was clear that the American luxury brand was looking to bring a touch of American lifestyle to the city, not just fashion collections.< /p>

Now, to coincide with Salone del Mobile and Milan Design Week, this lifestyle ambition became more visible as the brand covered the flagship's five-story facade in a range of patterns drawn from the Ralph Lauren Home collection's textile offering.

Rendered in a slightly faded, watercolor-like patchwork dominated by soft reds, pinks , dusty blues and cream, the installation draws on themes from the home textiles range.

Grouped into families, it includes Archival Florals for botanical designs; Archive traveler for ikat and wildlife motifs; Blue Book, dedicated to regimental stripes and nautical graphics rendered in a myriad of blue shades; Linen Library, a selection of textiles made in Belgium; the on-trend neutrals with subtle fashion-derived patterns done in combinations of cream and ivory whites as well as black and white, and the Palazzo range, with velvets, damasks and woolen plaids, the latter further expanded in the namesake range which includes ragged and checkered patterns.

The courtyard of The Bar at Ralph Lauren has also been redesigned, adorned with textiles from the house range, which appear on cushions, tablecloths, lanterns hanging from the pergola and curtains that frame it. In honor of Milan Design Week, The Bar has also introduced a new cocktail to its roster, called RL and made with a lavender-infused gin sour.
