Listeners expressed their anger and disappointment after famous Radio 4 presenter Roger Bolton sa id it has been removed from Feedback.
Bolton has hosted the Friday afternoon show for over two decades.
"The BBC have decided it's time for me to step down," Bolton told listeners in his latest episode, adding, "Obviously I would have liked to continue."
The BBC said it wanted to "thank Roger for being a brilliant presenter of Feedback for 23 years".
Feedback is a weekly half-hour program which airs complaints, praise and other opinions sent in by listeners about BBC radio programmes. It's the radio equivalent of BBC One's Points of View.
BBC News understands that a new production company has been chosen to do Feedback following a bidding process, and a new presenter will be announced soon.
Known for his affable and sweet style of presentation, but also not afraid to hold senior BBC officials to account, Bolton, 76, has been a favorite of Radio 4 audiences for decades.
Listeners reacted angrily to news of his departure on social media - including high-profile figures on both sides of the political divide.
