Ronaldo said he doesn't fit the club's 'philosophy' as Man Utd exit talks escalate

Bayern Munich chief executive Oliver Kahn has hinted that Man United striker Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't fit the German club's 'philosophy'

Ronaldo returned to the Red Devils last summer from Serie A side Juventus. They struggled overall, but on a personal level he performed well.

The experienced forward has managed to score 18 goals in his 30 Premier League appearances.

The Portugal international has made it clear he intends to leave Man Utd this summer if a suitable offer comes his way.

Bayern Munich and Chelsea are among the clubs linked to Ronaldo.

Kahn has made over 400 appearances for Bayern as a player and has been their general manager since July 2021. He has ruled out a move for Ronaldo:

“Even though I appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest (footballers of all time), a transfer would not fit our philosophy,” Kahn told Kicker (via The Irish Times).

Elsewhere, Fabrizio Romano has told Man Utd fans not to 'not read Joan Laporta's public comments too much' about Frenkie de Jong as Barcelona remain in negotiations.

Laporta said: "Frenkie de Jong is a Barcelona player - we don't want to sell him unless we have no other choice. Of course we know there are offers for Jong, but we don't want to sell him."

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: "Manchester United fans will be desperate to see progress in this long-running transfer saga, but so far nothing has changed on Frenkie de Jong.

"Still, don't read too much of Joan Laporta's public comments that the player is absolutely not for sale, as Manchester United and Barcelona are in direct contact beyond official statements; but there is no still not agreed on the add-on structure of 20 million euros, while the fixed fee of 65 million euros is almost agreed.

“Personal terms were not discussed as De Jong wants to stay at Barcelona as a priority and wants to play in the Champions League. He loves the club and United have been aware of this problem for some time. Hag will try by all means to change the player's mind in the coming days."
