SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher will be on the picket lines Friday on the first day of the guild strike against the film and television industry. She will be joined by Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, National Executive Director and Chief Guild Negotiator, and members of the Guild's Negotiating Committee.

Drescher and his team will picket the Netflix offices in Los Angeles in the morning from 9 a.m. to 9:40 a.m., followed by a picket outside the gates of Paramount Studios from 10 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., then at Warner Bros. at Burbank from 11:10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and at Disney from noon to 12:45 p.m. Times are approximate.

Earlier in the day, Drescher gave a fiery and passionate speech while announcing that the National Council of the guild had voted unanimously to launch the strike, which begins tonight at midnight PT. Calling the companies' negotiating positions 'insulting', 'deaf' and 'crazy', she said she entered the negotiations 'in the serious belief that we would be able to avoid a strike'. That soon changed, however,

"And so it is with great sadness that we come to this crossroads, but we had no choice" but to hit, she said. "We are the victims here. We are victims of a very greedy entity. I am shocked at the way the people we have dealt with treat us. I can't believe, quite frankly, how much we are distant on so many things. How they plead poverty that they lose money when they give hundreds of millions of dollars to their CEOs.

"This is disgusting. Shame on them. They stand on the wrong side of history by this very moment. We stand together in unparalleled unity. Our union, our sister unions and unions around the world stand with us and with other unions because at some point the mess is lifted. You cannot continue to be diminished and marginalized and disrespected and disgraced."

Calling for sweeping contract changes that reflect the business shifts sweeping Hollywood, she said that " the whole business model has been changed by streaming, digital and AI. This is a moment in history that is a moment of truth. If we don't stand up right now, we will all get in trouble. We're all going to be in danger of being replaced by machines. And big business, who cares more about Wall Street than you and your family.

"Most Americans don't have more than $500 for emergencies. That's is a very big problem...
