SAHCO expands its fleet of modern ground handling equipment

SKYWAY Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) has expanded its fleet of state-of-the-art aviation ground handling equipment by acquiring multi-purpose loaders, tractors, container handlers, passenger steps, belt loaders conveyor and air start units.

The new Universal Loaders, which have been manufactured by French Ground Support Equipment (GSE) manufacturer, AirMarrel of France, are 7,000 tonne lower and main deck loaders.

The GSEs are well suited to the latest compatible standards which can be used to load both pallets and containers, just as the loaders are equipped with aircraft approach sensors which minimize accidents or damage to the aircraft. aircraft body by limiting contact.

According to SAHCO management, the three ruggedly built GSEs, also known as the E-LAM 7000, are equipped with Tier 4 Deutz engines and have the ability to travel long distances, making them makes it compatible with Nigerian terrains and long distance tarmac.

Similarly, the ground handling company also acquired three Air Starter Units (ASU) equipment from Guinault, a GSE manufacturer residing in France.

While ACUs are used to start the engine of an aircraft while it is on the ground, the ASUs acquired by SAHCO can power both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft and are also equipped with engines Low Carbon Monoxide Tier Four Deutz and are built to produce 180 pounds per minute of power.

6 Sherpa tractors were also purchased to reinforce the existing GSE fleet at SAHCO and to service both cargo and passenger baggage.

In addition, SAHCO has added 50 container handlers manufactured by Bombelli, an Italian GSE company to the new GSE fleet, these container handlers are used to transport Unit Load Devices (ULDs) during operations. The trolleys are made of galvanized steel to prevent corrosion and rust and are equipped with spring-loaded hooks, making it easy to connect and pull for operators.

In addition, the three conveyor belts, which are used for loading and unloading baggage, are also equipped with proximity sensors integrated into the aircraft.

Additionally, the roller belts are made in one piece, allowing the GSE to carry loads faster, hold more weight, and last longer.

Talking about the equipment, SAHCO Managing Director/CEO Basil Agboarumi said SAHCO is committed to always providing safe, timely and efficient services to its customers and potential customers.
