Sallah Day accident leaves one dead and one injured in Osun

An as yet unidentified motorcyclist lost his life on Saturday after colliding with a car along the Osogbo-Olobu road of Irepodun local government area in Osun State on Saturday.< /p>

In addition, the passenger carried on the back of the motorcycle was seriously injured and is currently receiving treatment at an area hospital.

The incident threw everyone in the surrounding area into a state of turmoil.

Sources at the scene of the accident, however, told our reporter that the driver of the vehicle was apprehended by officers from the State Police Command.

The remains of the deceased were reportedly deposited at a nearby hospital morgue by family members.

Speaking on the development, Police Public Relations Officer Ms Yemisi Opalola said 'the accident involving a Toyota Camry happened when a motorcyclist who wanted to overtake another motorbike, lost control and in doing so struck a vehicle coming from the opposite direction."

She said the motorcyclist died instantly while her passenger was injured. The corpse and motorcycle were taken away by the family of the deceased, while the vehicle involved was taken to the state traffic bureau for safekeeping.
