SDP appoints Khadijah Okunnu-Lamidi as PCC deputy CEO

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has appointed Ms. Khadijah Okunnu-Lamidi as Deputy Director General of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the 2023 general elections.

Olu Agunloye, national secretary of the SDP, said so in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.

He said the appointment of Okunnu-Lamidi alongside other CCP members was to ensure maximum productive engagement with the electorate.

Agunloye said the appointment would help maximize the chances of electoral success for justice, peace and prosperity under the SDP government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okunnu-Lamidi, was one of the party's presidential hopefuls, but lost in the primaries to Adewole Adebayo, who ran as the candidate presidential.

Agunloye said Okunnu-Lamidi had remained loyal to the party with a determination to play an active role in revitalizing Nigeria's reform agenda.

He said Okunnu-Lamidi had never shied away from ideological politics as she now joined the campaign train to position and help the party to victory as she would put her skills to good use , its experience and its structures to promote the cause.

Commenting, Okunnu-Lamidi said his appointment as Deputy CEO of the SDP Presidential Campaign was a move in the right direction.

Okunnu-Lamidi promised to work diligently to fulfill the party's mandate and their candidates' zealous mission to protect the most vulnerable members of communities.

"I am extremely grateful for the great confidence that the National Working Committee of our great SDP has shown in me with this crucial appointment as Deputy CEO of our winning presidential campaign.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our nation and the SDP in the mission to restore the honor of our peoples and the seemingly elusive promise of our national identity.

"I believe in Nigeria, in the drive and energy of our people, in their strong character and unwavering resilience, in their faith in themselves and in the limitless talents with which the Almighty has endowed us.

“I join this campaign to help correct the existing situation, which is designed to dash the hopes of our people,” she said.

She added: "I am bound to honor the trust that has been diligently placed in me, the same high character and the same sense of responsibility that is exemplified by our candidate and the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria: Prince Adewole. Adébayo."

During the 2023 election, Okunnu-Lamidi called on members of the political class to be aware of their duties.

She said the campaign was meant to respond to the mandate of an electorate eager for practical reforms in the areas of the economy, security and governance.

"I will consolidate energy and talent and redirect the course of the nation's history," she said.

NAN reports that Okunnu-Lamidi is the CEO of Slice Media Solutions, as well as the director of Water Relief NG; a community program aimed at providing drinking water to underprivileged communities.
