South Africa withdraw from ODI series in Australia
Cricket Australia has refused a request to postpone the three-match series.
Match points, which affect qualification for the 2023 World Cup, could now be awarded to Australia.
Pholetsi Moseki, CEO of Cricket South Africa, said: "The sustainability of our new T20 league depends on have all of our domestic players available."
The International Cricket Board shall decide how to award match points, which count towards automatic qualification for the next ODI World Cup in India in Autumn 2023.
L South Africa are in 11th place in a 13-team qualifying league while Australia are eighth, which is the final automatic qualifying spot.
Countries that do not qualify directly will have to fight for the remaining two spots via another tournament.< / p>
South Africa will play three ODIs against England in July at the start of a summer tour which includes also three Twenty20 internationals and three Tests, plus two T20 games against Ireland in Bristol.
