Stay away from artists, lawmaker tells NDLEA

The lawmaker representing the Osun East Senate District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, has urged the National Drug Enforcement Agency not to wage the war on drugs towards the drug industry. entertainment.

Fadahunsi told The PUNCH that entertainment was the only viable sector in Nigeria that had been an inspiration to the young people who kept them busy amid a depressed economy.

While lamenting that young people are unwilling to do anything productive, Fadahunsi said the government must continue to let them lead the economy through what they choose .

The senator said, "The elite must encourage young people to return to the farms so they can start somewhere. Many young people have already mishandled the shared COVID-19 stimulus package because they thought it was free money. We don't want our young people to embrace banditry and kidnapping because it's not a "boom" business for those in it.< /p>

“The only area where young people succeed is in the entertainment industry. That's why I beg the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency not to go with them. Nollywood and the entertainment industry is generally the biggest labor recruiter right now. If the NDLEA sets fire to the industry, the youth will revolt and it will be too dangerous for our country. A lot of people are going to run away because we have millions of young people in the entertainment industry."

He also noted that many children from poor families could not find gainful employment because jobs were often distributed among the elite.

"Some of them even join the cult and violence. I wanted to take a lot of young people off the road but unfortunately they didn't have certificates. That's how bad the situation is sometimes is bad,” he added.

He pleaded with banks to provide loans to young people who wanted to invest in agriculture, as this would also help reduce the level and rate of banditry and other forms of crime.< /p>
