Stuttgart signs former Dortmund defender Zagadou
Former Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou has signed for Stuttgart on a free transfer.
Zagadou, a former French youth international, left Dortmund at the end of last season.
The 23-year-old's time at Signal Iduna Park has been plagued by injuries, with a serious knee problem which saw him miss the end of the 2020-21 campaign and the start of the next term.< /p>
Having made his Bundesliga debut aged 18, Zagadou played 67 times in the German top flight for Dortmund.
Zagadou was unable to find a new club during the transfer window but has now joined Stuttgart, who sit 16th in the Bundesliga, having failed to win any of their first seven matches.
He signed a four-year contract with Stuttgart, and he told the club's official website: "I'm very happy to be here.
"I would like to thank the VfB officials for the trust they have shown in me. I am really looking forward to being on the pitch with my new teammates soon."
The club's sporting director, Sven Mislintat, added: "Daxo has all the qualities a top centre-back needs. He is athletically strong, a good passer and has gained valuable experience at the national and European level in recent years."
