Welcome to the world of Jonny, the seemingly hedonistic teenager living life to the fullest in Mark O'Sullivan's new ITVX drama Tell Me Everything. But Jonny has more than meets the eye. Beneath the jokes with his best friends he fights seriously.
Jonny is a 16 year old boy growing up in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, but none of his friends saw this summer. The truth that he suffered from undiagnosed anxiety and depression and hid it away. Then his father suddenly dies and his world falls apart.
"Jonny is very loose on me, a much cooler version of the teenage me," O'Sullivan, who grew up in Welwyn Garden City himself, tells me.
"I'm so glad we decided to put it here because I think we all have a bit of a delicate relationship with the places we grew up in, especially if it's small places because they may feel suffocated.
"My story, which is one of the things that Jonny goes through, was the starting point. Some of it is very autobiographical. And some of it isn't. My adolescence was...
