Barcelona's 27 Brazilians have signed since 1990, grossing £604million

Barcelona and Brazil have a long-standing relationship, with some of the best players of the modern era representing both club and country.

But among their many successes, there have been quite a few flops and real headaches.

Here's how we ranked the 27 Brazilians to have signed for the club since 1990.

27. Philippe Coutinho

Anyone who has seen Coutinho tear up at Liverpool knows he's not a bad player - he's a much better footballer than many names on this list, in fact.

However, those who preceded them did not come close to bankrupting the club. Considering how little he has done for Barcelona - and the fact he scored twice against them in an 8-2 thrashing while on loan at Bayern Munich - means he has to go down here. p>

Neither a replacement for compatriot Neymar, nor club icon Andres Iniesta, Coutinho was always going to be an awkward at Barcelona. He never quite adapted and now Barcelona would pay half his salary while on loan at Aston Villa.

They will be lucky to recoup a tiny fraction of the club record €170m they paid Liverpool for him in January 2018. worst signing in football history.

26. Keirrison

Signed for 14 million euros in 2009, he never made a senior appearance for Barcelona. Six years and five loans later, he went free. It went well.

25. Henrique

Barcelona eyed Ajax to sign Henrique for €8m from Palmeiras, but he was another never to play for the club, often on loan before his contract was eventually cancelled. A slightly cheaper Keirrison.

24. Marlon Santos

Signed from Fluminense for €5m, three senior appearances in 2016-17, sold to Sassuolo for €6m. *Insert Alan Partridge's shrug here*.

23. Emerson Royal

Emerson Royal never made an appearance for Barca after his complicated move from Atletico Mineiro (via Real Betis). Still, the right-back made them a good profit when he was sold to Tottenham for around 30 million euros.

22.Douglas

Eight years later, we still don't know how or why Douglas ended up at the club.

21. Fabio Rochemback

A cult hero in Middlesbrough. Not a cult hero in Barcelona.

19. Neto

Starting from Valencia as Jasper Cillessen moved the other way in the summer of 2019, Neto served as a fairly reliable replacement for Marc Andre ter Stegen. It's hard to imagine him getting a regular game day.

18. Malcolm

There was a lot of fanfare when Barca edged out Roma at the last minute to sign the highly-rated youngster from Bordeaux, but a year later you wondered if it was worth it for him to sign. sit on the outskirts and sell themselves at the Zenith St. Petersburg.
