The 5 players who played for both Arsenal and Spurs in the Premier League

Few footballers played for the two north London clubs, Arsenal and Tottenham, during the Premier League era.

That's probably no surprise given the heated rivalry between the clubs. With passions heightened each time the two face off, few footballers have been brave enough to partner with both Arsenal and Tottenham.

We've identified the five players who came through the North London Division during their Premier League days and how they fared.

Sol Campbell

Everyone remembers this one.

It was common knowledge that Campbell would leave Tottenham in 2001, but no one had anticipated his move to Highbury. Journalists who had gathered to see Richard Wright's unveiling were stunned to see the England international go instead.

Campbell enjoyed great success at Arsenal. Spurs fans hate his soul to this day.

Guillaume Gallas

Arsenal fans could tolerate Gallas' brash nature as he put in outstanding performances in defence. But moving to Tottenham was a step too far.

Gallas was probably trying to bait the Arsenal board, who failed to offer him a new contract in 2010. It worked. The France international helped Spurs reach the 2011 Champions League quarter-finals, one round behind the Gunners.

David Bentley

Yeah, it never really worked out for Bentley at White Hart Lane. Signed from Blackburn for a reported £15million, the winger struggled to adapt his game and his days were numbered after dunking Harry Redknapp live on Sky Sports.

But Bentley was once seen as David Beckham's successor in the England squad - and for good reason. He first caught the eye at Arsenal but failed to make a full breakthrough in Arsene Wenger's Invincibles side.

It wasn't until Bentley moved to Blackburn that he really blossomed, but his most iconic goal remains that heartbreaking volley in the North London derby in 2008.

Emmanuel Adebayor

Adebayor loved scoring against Tottenham in his Arsenal days - who could forget his excellent brace in September 2007 - but he did cut ties with Gunners fans after that celebration as a Manchester City player.

Seeming to live by the motto 'for a penny, for a pound', the Togolese striker then joined Spurs in 2011, where excellent scoring streaks saw the initial loan deal become permanent.

Unfortunately, Adebayor's remaining time at White Hart Lane was marred by commitment issues and inconsistencies and he was released in 2015. Yet, after playing on both sides of the divide, a only player has managed more goals in North London Premier League derbies. …

Rohan Ricketts

Ricketts started out at Arsenal, where he won the FA Youth Cup in 2000 and 2001, but only made one appearance for the first team in a League Cup win over Manchester United.

It was another surprise when the midfielder moved to north London in 2002. Ricketts didn't break into the first team initially but became a regular in the infamously poor 2003 season -04.

After being sidelined under Martin Jol, Ricketts joined Championship side Wolves in 2005.
