There will be no anarchy if you are dismissed from the court - LP hits Tinubu

The Labor Party (LP) has said there will be no anarchy in Nigeria if President Bola Tinubu is removed from office by the court.

Tinubu had asked the Presidential Election Tribunal to dismiss LP's motion to overturn his victory in the 2023 general election, on the grounds that he had failed to obtain 25% of the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Tinubu, through his lawyer, Wole Olanipekun, in a final written address to the court, claimed that the FCT was the 37th state for electoral purposes.

According to the president, any other interpretation would "lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and the alteration of the very intention of the legislator".

However, in reaction to this, the LP, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, said Tinubu's remarks were unnecessary as the matter is before the court.< /p>

"We insist that no threat from the CPA on the judges of the court can alter the processes and requirements that the law has put in place. It must be followed and that is the position of the Labor Party.

“Let me assure the APC and its leaders that were it not for the absurdity, chaos and anarchy when they came to power, Nigeria will always know peace when they are finally removed from power," the Ifoh statement said in part. .
