Tinubu and APC conspire to threaten Electoral Tribunal judges with arrest - Atiku

People's Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to undermine the justice system.

Atiku and Peter Obi of the Labor Party (LP) contest the declaration of Bola Tinubu, candidate of the APC, winner of the presidential election of 2023 by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Part of the grounds for the challenge was Tinubu's failure to secure at least 25% of the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

However, Tinubu, through his lawyer, Wole Olanipekun, argued that the FCT is the 37th state for electoral purposes and that any other interpretation would "lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and the alteration of the very intent of the legislature".

Atiku, in a statement signed by his media adviser, Paul Ibe on Saturday, said that the APC and Tinubu agents have "constantly chosen to obstruct justice by issuing 'catastrophic threats to lawlessness if justice is not meted out to their whims'.

“The APC's plot is simple: intimidate justice, threaten judges with arrest to do their bidding. This is a playbook from 2019, when they scrapped the CJN and then replaced it with Tanko Muhammad, who himself was later accused of corruption by his Supreme Court colleagues and resigned in shame,” the statement read in part.
