Tinubu will hand over to northerners in 2031, Igbokwe tells critics

In a counterattack to the comment of one of his critics, Joe Igbokwe, special adviser to the governor of Lagos State on drainages, said on Friday that Bola Tinubu will remain president of Nigeria until 2031 and then, will hand over power to a northerner who will lead the country until 2039.

Igbokwe made the submission while reacting to a comment on his Facebook post.

The APC leader had published a post on his Facebook account justifying that the Igbos residing in Lagos should support the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is seeking his second term.

“President-elect ASIWAJU BAT is a good friend of the Igbo people and he has done his best for the prominent Igbo businessmen and women in Lagos including me. This is the time for payback and we should do it by voting for GOV SANWO OLU en masse on March 18,” Igbokwe wrote on his timeline.

However, this did not sit well with some of his followers who attacked Sanwo-Olu's aid.

A follower with the username Ejike Akunna, in reaction, stormed the comments section to ridicule the APC leader.

“Crush him, your wife and daughters, and enthrone him as your family deity. It will be an adequate reward,” Ejike wrote.

Ingered by Ejike's comment, Igbokwe said that despite anger and hatred over Tinubu's criticisms, Tinubu would lead the country for eight years and hand over power to a northerner, ruling out the possibility of an Igbo presidency.

"When I see the level of despicable abuse and insults coming from young people in the South East, I run away thinking that we, Diderot, are not doing our duty as parents.

"Shame enveloped me from head to toe. Ejike Akunna jisieike. But note my words here: Asiwaju from 2023 to 2031 and another northerner from 2031 to 2039.

"We will always be children of anger and children of hatred and life goes on. We will be spectators because we refused to play politics. Dazzol!" He answered.
