Why Eto'o assaulted me, the assaulted man breaks the silence

The man assaulted by footballing legend and current Cameroon FA president Samuel Eto'o has explained what happened between him and Eto'o which led to the violent altercation

The Cameroon FA president recently made headlines for attacking a man outside a stadium in Qatar during the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Forty-eight hours after the video was posted on social media, the assaulted man, Algerian YouTuber Said Momouni, in a YouTube video on Tuesday night, said he asked Eto'o if he (Eto' o) had bribed the referee who refereed the World Cup qualifiers between Cameroon and Algeria which saw Cameroon qualify for the 2022 tournament.

The YouTuber added that he had filed a complaint with the Qatari police for assault.

He said, "I am at the police station to file a complaint against Eto'o. He hit me and someone with him pushed me.

"I asked him how Bakary Gassama (the referee who took charge of the African World Cup play-offs) is doing and if he gave him a bribe. He then hit me and destroyed my camera and microphone.

“I will take my rights here in Qatar because it is a rule of law. He hit me in the chest, face and elbow,” Momouni added.

Eto'o, however, apologized for his outburst on his Twitter page on Tuesday night, saying the violent altercation did not fit his personality.

Eto'o wrote, "I would like to apologize for losing my temper and reacting in a way that doesn't fit my personality. I apologize to the public for this unfortunate incident . »

Algeria had lodged a complaint about the performance of the referee in the qualifying play-off in Blida on March 28, in which Cameroonian Karl Toko Ekambi scored the winning goal with the final kick of the match.
