Tinubu won't treat Igbo badly, Onoh vs Omokri

President-elect, Spokesperson for Bola Tinubu in the South East, Dr. Josef Onoh has once again reassured Ndigbo that the incoming administration of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not discriminate against any section of Nigeria, not to mention the important geopolitical area of the southeast.< /p>

Onoh said that the problem in Tinubu in the southeast was the ineffectiveness of the cabinet members of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, from the area, who never sold the legacy of the Buhari government to the inhabitants of the southeast.

He said that Tinubu had just inherited the baggage of sabotage cabinet members who intentionally de-commercialized the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the southeast, so when Tinubu became the party's presidential candidate, the obstacles were already fixed for him in the sector.

But Onoh said that despite the challenges, Tinubu will integrate all segments of the country as an entity government, assuring the people of the area that they will not be outsiders to the new administration.

The spokesperson was reacting to an interview where a former presidential aide, Mr. Reno Omokri, alleged that Tinubu's promise of continuity from Buhari's government meant the southeast would remain marginalized.

Onoh, however, said it was disappointing that everyone in the southeast decided to play the ethnicity card and tried to misinterpret the president-elect's statement to mean he would marginalize locals from the southeast.

The spokesperson said he's had enough of the repetition and is making this clarification for the last time, after which he won't address the issue again, noting that anyone trying to misinterpret the president's statement elected official, Tinubu, does so at his own risk, but that he will no longer respond to the baseless allegation after this time.

“Firstly, the statement in which Mr. President-elect said that he would continue where President Mohammadu Buhari left off simply meant that in every stage of development that the Buhari administration has embarked on, to Nigeria's economic growth, infrastructure growth, among others, continue and be achieved.

"As for the southeast, yes, the president-elect will continue where Buhari left off, and where Buhari left off is in infrastructure projects such as the reconstruction of 10 billion naira of the runway at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu; Niger's second 200 billion naira bridge; reconstruction of the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri railway line, linking the southeastern states to a planned new seaport in Bonny and northern Nigeria,” Onoh said.

He further listed other projects inherited from President Buhari in the southeast, including the energizing education program – the 2.8 MW solar power plant at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo , Ebonyi State; the completion and launch of the first phase of the Ariaria (Aba) Market IPP, supplying electricity to 4,000 stores in the market; NSIA investments in healthcare: brand new $5.5 million medical diagnostic center in Umuahia (completed and operational) and approval of new air base (Owerri) and naval base (Oguta) in the 'State of Imo.

Others include the revitalization of a moribund fertilizer blending plant in Abakaliki, which now supplies NPK fertilizers to farmers in the state and beyond; the financial close of the ANOH gas processing plant, with a processing capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet of gas and a power generation potential of 1,200 MW, in Imo State ; the first phase of the Waltersmith Modular Refinery, with a production capacity of 270 million liters of gasoline per year, in Imo State, whose President Buhari approved the investment of 10 million dollars by the federal government in the project, among many other projects in the area.< /p>

“This is where the president-elect said he would continue and the projects are not just in the south east but all over Nigeria. stop promoting ethnicity at every opportunity given to them and it is common knowledge that Buhari's administration has benefited the people of the south east and given juicy ministerial positions to the people of the south east but these are Buhari's ministers in the southeast who sabotaged Buhari's policy achievements in the region, because none of the ministers in the southeast ever promoted what he was doing in the region, and they never neither tried to sensitize their people in the southeast about their current projects,” he pointed out.

Onoh said he was so sad that it was Public Works Minister Babatunde Fashola who made the updates, but other ministers in the region remained silent, which culminated today to misinterpret the president-elect's statement to mean that they are going to subject the Igbo to hardships.

"I respect Reno Omokri and I know some issues where he has made his case constructively. I see him as someone who is knowledgeable, but he should...
