Transfer: He's a top-class player, scores goals for fun - McCoist picks £68m striker for Man United

Rangers legend Ally McCoist has told Manchester United what they need at this stage is £68million-rated former Chelsea star Tammy Abraham.

>

According to him, it "makes sense" that Abraham, who left Stamford Bridge in 2021, would return to England to join Manchester United or Chelsea this summer.

The 24-year-old joined Serie A side Roma last summer for £34m, linking up with legendary Premier League boss Jose Mourinho.

The Camberwell-born striker was a revelation at the Stadio Olimpico and scored 17 goals in his first season at the club.

In doing so, he became the all-England top scorer in a single Serie A season.

Chelsea have a £68m buyout option on their former star, a clause that kicks in in 2023.

Rangers legend McCoist, however, thinks a move to Old Trafford would be a good option for both sides.

"It makes sense for Manchester United," McCoist told talkSPORT

"The question and the dilemma he will have to answer is whether he would like to return to Chelsea or go to Manchester United.

"I think he's a top player, and he scores goals for fun."

Manchester United started their season on a very sad note, losing 2-1 to Brighton at Old Trafford in Erik ten Hag's first game in charge.
