Tributes have been paid to comic book writer Alan Grant, who died at the age of e 73 years old.
He worked on Judge Dredd and Batman in a career spanning decades.
A 2000 AD tribute said his impact on comics and his position in the industry could not be underestimated.
Born in Bristol, he grew up in Scotland and had lived in the village of Moniaive in Dumfries and Galloway for many years.
His writing career started with DC Thomson in Dundee before moving to London to work with IPC before being offered a position with 2000 AD.
Grant became well known for his work on series such as Strontium Dog, Judge Dredd and Batman.
