Troops kill dozens of terrorists in Kaduna, commissioner says

Kaduna State Commissioner for Homeland Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan said the security forces had registered a major success in the ongoing operations against terrorists, dozens of bandits having been neutralized by ground and air troops during an operation in Galbi, Chikun local government area.

In a statement released by the commissioner on Saturday, he said security agencies had passed the operational information to the Kaduna state government.

According to feedback, Operation Forest Sanity troops supported by Nigerian Air Force assets carried out demining operations on an identified terrorist enclave in the area General of Galbi.

"During their advance, the security forces crossed the Kaduna River and encountered fierce resistance from the insurgents.

The statement notes that after a fierce firefight, dozens of terrorists were confirmed neutralized as military forces prevailed.

"Two general purpose machine guns (GPMG), three AK-47 rifles and seven motorcycles were recovered from the neutralized bandit enclave.

“The Kaduna State Government expressed enthusiasm at the comments and commended the troops for their tenacity in this important victory against enemy forces.

"The government thanked the troops, air force crews, police personnel, intelligence officers and local vigilantes who contributed to the success of the mission .

The government has urged the security forces to step up their momentum and defeat the terrorists for good.

"Troops will continue clearance operations in the general area and other identified areas of interest across the state."

"The Kaduna State Government hereby encourages residents to voluntarily provide useful information on terrorist activities or movements to security agencies. Citizens may also contact the operations of Kaduna State Security on 09034000060 or 08170189999,” the statement said.
