Two dead in car accident in Jigawa

Two people lost their lives in a car accident on Kiyawa-Jahun Road in Jigawa State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Jigawa Command, Adamu Shehu, made the point in a statement on Friday.

According to Shehu, the incident involved a gray Toyota bus registered MGM435XA, carrying passengers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He added that the accident happened along the Kiyawa-Jahun road, killing two passengers; a male and a female.

"On Thursday, October 6, 2022, at approximately 06:00, the accident occurred around the village of Katika when the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, thus colliding with a tree at the side of the road," he said.

The NSCDC spokesperson said the crash victims were immediately evacuated and rushed to a primary health care center in Kiyawa LGA.

“Unfortunately, two were pronounced dead while others, including the bus driver, sustained varying degrees of injuries and were referred to Federal Medical Center Azare, Bauchi State,” it said. -he revealed.

He identified the names of the deceased as Muhammad Atiku, 27; and Cecilia Peter, 21.

Shehu added, "Saddened by the incident, the command instructed motorists to always drive with caution, avoid speeding and other traffic violations."
