Two villagers drown in Jigawa communities

The Jigawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps has confirmed the deaths of two people who drowned in a pond at different locations in the state.

Command Public Relations Officer CSC Adamu Shehu, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, said the bodies of the deceased were recovered by NSCDC personnel.

He said the two corpses were victims of separate incidents in Buji and Kaugama local government areas of the state.

Shehu said, "The body of Zahraddeen Yusuf, 30, from Lafia Village, Madabe Ward, Buji LGA, was found in a local pond called Ruwan Kidibo on Monday after attempting to cross the river. water with his brothers on Saturday to join his farm.

“Also in Kaugama LGA, NSCDC officials received a report of a drowning incident of a 15-year-old boy, Anas Hamza, in Garin Badde, Marke Ward, Kaugama LGA.

"The victim was returning from the farm when he decided to take a bath in a nearby pond, and unfortunately he drowned and later his shoes and clothes were seen at the edge of the pond."

Shehu said a search and rescue mission was launched with the help of locals, which eventually led to the discovery of the two corpses.
