UK heatwave: Boomtown festival-goers warned not to 'get beat up in the heat'

Boomtown

The Boomtown Music Festival is back after being canceled for two years due to the pandemic, with extreme heat warnings.

Up to 66,000 people are expected to attend the four-day dance festival at the Matterley Estate, near Winchester.

Campfires and Open stoves have been banned to help prevent grass fires.

With an orange warning in place for extreme heat, organizers have warned festival-goers not to not "get beaten by the heat".

Organizers said they made the decision to ban campfires on the advice of firefighters and warned festival-goers to be "extremely vigilant".

"The ground is dry and alongside our concerns about cooking fires, we would particularly like to highlight the danger of stra y cigarettes," a statement said. /cpsprodpb/595E/production/_126287822_mediaitem126287818.jpg 240w, https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/320/cpsprodpb/595E/production/_126287822_mediaitem126287818.jpg 320w, https://ichef.bbci.co.uk /news/480/cpsprodpb/595E/production/_126287822_mediaitem126287818.jpg 480w, https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/624/cpsprodpb/595E/production/_126287822_mediaitem126287818.jpg 624w, https://ichef.bbci src="src=" https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/976/cpsprodpb/595E/production/_126287822_mediaitem126287818.jpg" width="976" height="549" loading="lazy" class="ssrcss-evoj7m-Image ee0ct7c0 "/>

He added that the number of fire artists had been reduced, as had community fire pits in camping areas.
